The Raptors still seek their first win since being promoted to league 4, but this hard earned 3-3 draw against a strong Worcester Park team demonstrates we can compete at this level and the future looks promising.
The Raptors started well with some courageous tackling and pressing but it was Worcester Park who broke the deadlock after a shot rebounded off the Teddington post.
Daniel Jolly responded almost immediately for the raptors with an audacious lob from just inside the oppositions half that sailed in over a stranded goalie to make it 1-1.
The goal lifted the team and the Raptors then took the lead after a typically mazey run from Lennon Chalmers and a shot that proved too powerful for the goalie to keep out!
The Raptors dominated the next ten minutes of the game until Worcester Park scored against the run of play to make it 2-2 just before the break.
The second half was a tense affair as chances seemed to dry up for both teams. Worcester Park nosed ahead after hitting the Raptors on the break to make it 2-3.
Second half substitute Tom Mullins split the opposition in half on numerous occasions with some ‘slide rule’ passing and looked to be our most potent attacking threat.
The Raptors looked to be heading to an unfair 2-3 defeat until the 45th minute when Jarvis Moore won the ball just outside the opposition penalty box, homed in on goal and calmly slotted away to make it 3-3. This earned Jarvis man of the match as he also kept the Raptors in the game in the first half with some fine saves in goal.
Hopefully this draw will the give team the confidence to push on and record our first win against Old Coulsdon Colts next week.
